What kills me is...how many students were allowed to wear shirts that could have caused mental images of...straight people having sex?

Split infinitives and ending sentences with prepositions as no-no's are holdovers from Latin scholars writing on English grammar in the 1700's--both of these things are *impossible* in Latin and thus were marked down as improper in English. Just because the Romans couldn't doesn't mean it's wrong for us! :D

Turning and turning in the widening gyre
